What's
up Family,
This
is David E. Talbert, the 5-time NAACP
Award winner, including Best Playwright for The
Fabric Of A Man and the New York Literary Award
winner for Best Playwright for my most recent musical
Love In The Nick Of Time.
Well,
tomorrow is the BIG DAY. I have been
grinding, sweating and praying for this day to arrive
as I deliver to you my best work for my movie directorial
debut. Below is an email that was sent to my site from
an on-line winner.
Dear
Mr. Talbert,
Thank
you again for the opportunity to be one of the
first audiences to watch the preview of First
Sunday. I won the tickets from the contest that
you ran before the holidays. David the movie was
great from beginning to end. I could not believe
that I was able to laugh all the way through.
I actually felt like I was in church when then
scene came on with Katt Williams. Tracy Morgan
was excellent he keep me rolling. Ice Cube, what
can you say I really felt his role. I love the
message about having a father in a young man's
life especially. I am a single parent and I understand
what you meant when you said that you wanted to
send the message that there are still good father's
left in the world . I cant wait to take my son
who is 11 to see the movie. Sorry for the tangent
but to sum it all up job well done keep up the
great work. Just know that as the man prayed over
you during the autograph signing remember you
have many doing the same for you and yours at
all times.
May God continue to bless you.
Love your,
Faithful Fan |
Family,
I need your help to make sure everybody
you know understands how important it is to see
this movie this weekend. I'm asking that
you send a personal email to all your friends asking
them to support FIRST SUNDAY
on this Friday, January 11th. If you're
part of a fraternity, sorority, church group or social
group, join with me and many others in making this weekend
the biggest ever! If you attended a HBCU, spread the
word and let folks know that Black Colleges and Universities
are still pumping out great things from their graduates.
As soon as you get this, send an email to your lists
and groups. Your college or university. From Myspace
to Facebook to anywhere else...help me spread the word
by letting everyone know that it's important to see
FIRST SUNDAY the day it opens
- this Friday, January 11th.
So
why is going to see the film tomorrow so important?
Hollywood
looks at the numbers on Friday and that's how they project
which film will open #1. The more African-American films
that we have that open at #1, the more chances we get
to tell our stories, hire our actors, and entertain,
uplift, and inspire our community. This film does all
that. It's a laugh out loud movie starring one of the
most amazing casts ever assembled. And best thing...it's
for the entire family. This Friday... Let's send a strong
signal that our films matter.
Let's
make FIRST SUNDAY # 1
Will
you do this for me? I'm saying THANK YOU in advance
because I know you will!!!
Much
love!!
David
