CONSTELLATION portrays the spirit of the traditional Valentine, of love gained, lost and reclaimed. It is the Valentine we all carry with us, of our first love, of our most enduring love, of our ultimate love. It is also the Valentine, that for all the drama they can cause, we have for our families. It is also the love that exists among friends: This is a universal Valentine; it is not bound by race, generation or nationality.
CONSTELLATION chronicles the lives and loves of an African- American family in the Deep South as they are forced to come to terms with a tumultuous past marked by an unrequited interracial affair. The film explores the way in which the family patriarch, Helm Boxer (Billy Dee Williams), must confront his demons amidst the changing racial fabric of society and his own family.
This film explores the redemptive power of love and spotlights the importance of honesty and the bonds of family loyalty.
“I hope the audience for CONSTELLATION comes out feeling what Bear (David Clennon) and the other characters in the movie ultimately experience, which is that even if you have let it (love) slip away at anytime in your life, it is never too late to take a giant step back towards love. It is also one of our great shared journeys” says, Constellations Director Jordan Walker-Pearlman.
